Akunyili commiserates with Enugu NUJ

Former Minister of Information and Communication, Prof. Dora Akunyili, on Monday paid a sympathy visit to the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Enugu State Council, Mr. Rockefeller Ogboso, and described his survival in a recent fire incident as “a great miracle.”

Ogboso’s three-bedroom apartment on the second floor of a two-storey building at 15, Kenyatta Street, Uwani, Enugu, was on December 18, 2011 razed by an early morning fire which destroyed all his household effects. He narrowly escaped death with five other members of his family.

Akunyili urged Ogboso to see the property and other valuables lost in the fire as mere earthly things that could be recovered in a matter of time.

She noted that saving his life and those of other five members of his family called for great celebration and thanksgiving to God.

She prayed God to give the Enugu NUJ chairman the fortitude to bear the loss and said, “You should see it as one of those challenges of life.”

In his response, Ogboso said he was humbled by the visit of the former minister.

He said for her to have taken time to pay such visit was an eloquent testimony that she was a woman with the milk of kindness flowing in her.
