It appears Ben Flajnik‘s rejected proposal on The Bachelorette is but a distant memory, judging by the trailer for the new season of The Bachelor.

In the extended video clip, the Sonoma, Calif., winemaker admits he had his “heart broken” when Ashley Hebert turned him down. But he’s quick to add that “going through that experience really did open me up. It had been a really long time since I tapped into any of those love feelings.”

And on the upcoming season, which premieres Jan. 2 (8 p.m. ET) on ABC, he says, “I’m ready to find that person. I’m ready to find love.”

Cue a fast-paced look at what’s coming up this season, including floods of tears, plenty of bleeped swearing, fireworks (literally), and even a bout of skinny-dipping.

While viewers won’t know yet if Flajnik finds love in the end, he says in one clip of a mystery contestant, “When I’m with this woman, I find myself starting to fall in love.”

However, the women aren’t seen in such a loving light. There’s lots of bickering and fighting in the house, with one saying of another: “I just wanna rip her head off.”
