It is also the first defence of the IBF world title he won in July in a unification fight with Zab Judah.<\/p>\n<p>A stablemate of Manny Pacquiao, Khan is building towards a fight in 2012 against Floyd Mayweather jnr.<\/p>\n<p>However, he must first get past Peterson, a former street urchin who has mixed near the top level without meeting any of the superstars in a 29-1-1 career.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmir has done well in America, I will give him that,\u201d said Peterson. \u201cBut he\u2019s never met a hungry American like me, a fighter that had nothing and will never quit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But Khan is a fighter on the rise. Just 24, he is destined for great things, according to Oscar De La Hoya.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmir\u2019s up there in pound-for-pound terms. You can make that argument for him to become the best fighter in the world. Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are on top at the moment, but Amir is right on their backs.<\/p>\n<p>With time, he can catch them. In every single fight, we have seen him get better.
