Art Deco, in collaboration with the Forestry Commission, hosted a 3-day exhibition of handcrafted furniture from lesser used species of timber at the Novotel in Accra.<\/p>\n
The exhibition was organized as part of Art Deco\u2019s activities lined up to promote made-in Ghana products to the outside world.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, Nana Ohene Wontumi, commissioner of the Forestry Commission, said the primary species of timber like mahogany, sapele, avodire and asamfena had virtually run out, yet equally good results could be achieved with lesser known species such as Yaya and bamboo.<\/p>\n
On his part, Henry Coleman, contract and permit manager at the Forestry Commission (timber industry development division of the commission), congratulated Phelia Akiwumi, CEO of Art Deco, for her vision and foresight in producing the beautifully handcrafted furniture on display and giving Ghanaians artisans training and employment.<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
