{"id":9318,"date":"2011-12-09T10:25:18","date_gmt":"2011-12-09T10:25:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/12\/psl-unveil-new-ceo\/"},"modified":"2011-12-09T10:25:18","modified_gmt":"2011-12-09T10:25:18","slug":"psl-unveil-new-ceo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/12\/09\/psl-unveil-new-ceo\/","title":{"rendered":"PSL unveil new CEO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><div readability=\"8\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mtnfootball.com\/content\/Stan_Matthews-580.jpg\" width=\"270\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span>Stan Matthews, with Irvin Khoza in the background<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">South Africa\u2019s Premier Soccer League (PSL) unveiled SuperSport United boss Stanley Matthews as the new PSL CEO of the organisation on Thursday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Matthews, who will assume his responsibilities on February 1, 2012, comes with lots of experience in football having served in the PSL Executive Committee for the past five years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">PSL chairman Dr Irvin Khoza said: \u201cMr Matthews\u2019 record speaks for itself. He has been with SuperSport United for the past 12 years; he is one of the well rounded sport administrators in this country. We all know how he successfully transformed SuperSport United \u2013 from a side that was languishing at the bottom of the league to champions. We know this was a collective effort, but Stanley Matthews was central to that.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u201cAs a person, he is a people\u2019s person who is knowledgeable in football and very articulate. He has been with the PSL for a while and served on several committees. He has also been a member of SAFA and also the joint Liaison Committee.\u00a0 He is joining a dynamic team.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Matthews had a successful stint with three-time Absa Premiership champions, SuperSport United where he served as the Director of Football.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Matthews said: \u201cThis is a day of many emotions for me. I\u2019m humbled, excited but most importantly I\u2019m appreciative to the Chairman and the Executive Committee for giving me an opportunity to be the CEO of the most successful league in Africa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u201cI have been part of the PSL family for a while now.\u00a0 I think this will be a smooth transition. There is nothing that is broken. Today, I can only reflect on the past. I want to thank SuperSport United including the chairman and the management for all the support.
