IKEJA\u2014Lagos State Government has presented eight traditional rulers in the state cars worth N46 million.<\/p>\n

According to the government, the essence of presenting the cars to the monarchs is to assist them discharge their responsibilities to the people and promote peaceful co-existence and harmonious relationship among people within their domains.<\/p>\n

At the presentation, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Ademorin Kuye, pointed out that the role of obas was very crucial for the development of the state, adding \u201cas custodian of the traditions of our people, traditional rulers serve as a vital bridge between the people and the government.\u201d<\/p>\n

Olojo of Ojo, Ojomu of Ajiran, Sasore of Lagos, Suenu of Lagos, Ovori of Ibeshe, Ojon of Lagos,\u00a0 Oba of Ilashe and Oba of Ketu were beneficiaries of the cars.<\/p>\n

Three Toyota Corolla went to three white cap chiefs and three Toyota Camry were given to three first class obas, while two second class obas got Toyota Avensis each.<\/p>\n

Kuye noted that the Governor Babatunde Fashola administration was committed to enhancing the living standard of royal fathers in Lagos.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cThey assist government on the vital issues of security, and as fathers of their communities, they promote peaceful co-existence and harmonious relationship among the people within their domains.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to him, Fashola\u2019s administration believed in the sacredness of the traditional institution and as custodian of the traditions of\u00a0 the people, the rulers serve as a vital bridge between the people and government.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
