{"id":8938,"date":"2011-12-08T16:51:20","date_gmt":"2011-12-08T16:51:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/12\/bwalya-strikes-confident-note\/"},"modified":"2011-12-08T16:51:20","modified_gmt":"2011-12-08T16:51:20","slug":"bwalya-strikes-confident-note","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/12\/08\/bwalya-strikes-confident-note\/","title":{"rendered":"Bwalya strikes confident note"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span><span>By Farayi Mungazi<\/span><br \/><span>BBC Sport<\/span><\/span> <span><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/news.bbcimg.co.uk\/media\/images\/57212000\/jpg\/_57212012_herverenarddd.jpg\" width=\"466\" height=\"300\" alt=\"Herve Renard, Zambia coach\" \/> Renard took Zambia to the 2010 Nations Cup quarter-finals in Angola<\/span> <\/p>\n<p>Zambia&#8217;s preparations for the African Cup of Nations will not be derailed by a row over the national coach&#8217;s salary, according to the head of the country&#8217;s football association.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/sport1\/hi\/football\/16077923.stm\">Zambia FA has come under fire from sports minister Fackson Shamenda<\/a>, who accuses the body of acting &#8220;arrogantly&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Shamenda alarmed the country&#8217;s football fraternity on Wednesday when he told parliament that the government has no intention of paying Herve Renard&#8217;s salary.<\/p>\n<p>The Frenchman was reappointed in October to replace Italian Dario Bonetti who was sacked just days after qualifying the team for the 2012 finals.<\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>21\/01\/12: Eq Guinea v Libya<\/li>\n<li>21\/01\/12: Senegal v Zambia<\/li>\n<li>25\/01\/12: Libya v Zambia<\/li>\n<li>25\/01\/12: Eq Guinea v Senegal<\/li>\n<li>29\/01\/12: Eq Guinea v Zambia<\/li>\n<li>29\/01\/12: Libya v Senegal<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>But Zambia FA president Bwalya struck an altogether more confident note, telling BBC Sport that a solution will be found.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The minister knows that the hiring of Herve Renard was a decision of the executive committe and the process was thorough,&#8221; Bwalya said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It appears though that the right kind of information hasn&#8217;t reached him.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If the minister has an issue with the football association in future, he should talk to us directly so that we resolve things amicably.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Zambian legend said he is not concerned by the sports minister&#8217;s declaration that the governenment will not pay Renard&#8217;s salary.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I haven&#8217;t received any notification from the minister regarding the report he tabled in parliament, but we have a lot of well-wishers in Zambia.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Everybody in Zambia knows where the problem is; there are people around the minister who give him the wrong information to push their own agendas.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I have no doubts that we&#8217;re doing is in the best interest of Zambian football, and I&#8217;ll continue to serve football to the best of my ability.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Bwalya rejected suggestions that the row with the minister will derail Zambia&#8217;s preparations for the Nations Cup in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I know that Renard is a very passionate man, he&#8217;s experienced and very ambitious.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He will continue to work the boys to improve on what they did in Angola when they reach the quarter-finals.&#8221;<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> By Farayi Mungazi BBC Sport Renard took Zambia to the 2010 Nations Cup quarter-finals in Angola Zambia&#8217;s preparations for the African Cup of Nations will not be derailed by a row over the national coach&#8217;s salary, according to the head of the country&#8217;s football association. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":0,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-8938","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.0 -
