Sekou Nkrumah<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Sekou Nkrumah, son of Ghana\u2019s first president, who recently fell out with the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), has said that a member of the party on Tuesday attempted to bribe him with cash and a car so he would do the party\u2019s bidding.<\/p>\n

But he has warned the party to stay away from him.
Sekou, who spoke on Asempa FM,<\/em> claimed a former NDC Member of Parliament arranged a meeting with him on Tuesday during which the ex-MP attempted to bribe him with a car and an unspecified amount of money but he rejected them.
His claim of attempted bribery was vehemently opposed by Alhaji Iddrisu Bature, who maintained that the named ex-MP was a noted philanthropist who could have made the offer without any ulterior motive.
Sekou Nkrumah was dismissed as the Coordinator of the National Youth Council over a year ago after he launched a scathing attack on President John Evans Atta Mills, labelling him as a weak leader in an interview with the Africa Watch<\/em> magazine.
He announced his resignation from the NDC on Tuesday, September 13, explaining that his continued stay in the NDC could be an obstacle to his sister, Samia Nkrumah\u2019s new political role as chairman of the Convention People\u2019s Party (CPP).
However, narrating the incident on Asempa FM\u2019s \u2018Ekosii Sen\u2019<\/em> programme yesterday, Sekou Nkrumah said he was approached by the general secretary of the People\u2019s National Convention (PNC), who told him of the intentions of the ex-MP, now an established businessman, to meet him.
According to Sekou, upon reaching the house together with Bernard Monah, the ex-MP insisted on giving him (Sekou) the vehicle and money.
When challenged by the programme host on the credibility of his claims, Sekou said, \u201cI don\u2019t make up stories\u201d.
Dr. Nkrumah stated that his refusal was based on his principle never to accept anything from any close associate of President Mills or from a party he resigned from.
The Mills critic was convinced the \u2018bribe\u2019 was a trap intended to compromise him to run down the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and their flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, ahead of the 2012 general elections.
