The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has alleged that a group of people are planning to cause public disaffection by staging an unauthorized rally in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja on Monday.<\/p>\n
The Chairman of NFF Security Committee, Chief Effiong Johnson made this known at the Glass House in Abuja on Friday.<\/p>\n
“We have very reliable information that these persons, including top officials of the long-proscribed and illegal National Association of Nigerian Footballers, are planning to use the U-23 National Team’s unimpressive outing in Morocco as an excuse to foist anarchy on the Federal Capital Territory through unauthorized and uncoordinated demonstration”, stated Chief Effiong Johnson.<\/p>\n
Chief Johnson added that, “our sources have confirmed that these anarchists are being bankrolled by some other persons who hold public peace and tranquility in disdain. But we feel a responsibility to alert the security agencies and the generality of residents of Abuja and Nigerians as a whole to this lawless moves.”<\/p>\n
He called on the security agencies to work towards averting the moves by “these persons who want to cause disturbance and general disorder”.<\/p>\n
Chief Johnson who acknowledged that the country football teams have been performing below expectation, noted that it was hard for the Federation to get results in the midst of one crisis and the other.<\/p>\n
“The truth is that it is difficult to accomplish in the midst of crises. Ever since the present administration came on board, it has been one crisis after the other, championed by persons who are supposed to support the administration to make headway and give Nigerians joy through the game”, he pointed out.<\/p>\n
The NFF Executive Committee Chairman however, said the Federation was determined to forge ahead and accomplish despite the odds.<\/p>\n
Johnson went further: “There have been a few poor results in our international matches of recent but the NFF is working assiduously to turn the table in the right direction once more.”<\/p>\n
