The 2012 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has sent a congratulatory message to all farmers and fishermen on the occasion of the National farmer\u2019s day.<\/p>\n
The NPP flagbearer acknowledged the hard work and unflinching commitment of farmers over the years, \u201cwe are indeed proud of your good works and congratulate every one of you on this day as you continue to hold the fortunes of our nation in your hands.\u201d<\/p>\n
Nana Addo stressed the need for the transformation and modernisation of Ghana\u2019s agriculture to enhance productivity and guarantee food security and self-sufficiency. This, Nana Addo said, are the vital issues of our time.\u201cWith the necessary support and incentives, I am confident that the Ghanaian farmer will be up to the task,\u201d Nana Addo charged.<\/p>\n
He stated that despite the fact that growth target of the agricultural sector was not met, he was still confident in the ability of the Ghanaian farmer to turn the dire situation around.<\/p>\n
