For music lovers in the late 90s and early 2000, popular tunes such as Deeba by Deeba and Obrafour\u2019s Who Born You By Mistake were the toast of those prime years of hiplife.<\/p>\n
One of the main attributes of those songs that made them stand out was the sweet, fast flowing, rich English rap by Baazar that transmits 1000 ohms of rap per minute; Lyrically advice you, Okomfo Anokye conjuring the stool…beats produced by the Last Two, were some of his most popular lines.<\/p>\n
He instantly cemented his name as a force to reckon with in an era of fast growing hiplife that had started engulfing the Ghanaian music scene.<\/p>\n
Contrary to expectations that he would stay on to do wonders, he vanished, but luckily got absorbed into America’s fast-paced life, where he played ambassador of Ghanaian rap. After several years, he is finally back with a new identity \u2013 Blitz the Ambassador.<\/p>\n
He was guest of DJ Black\u2019s Weekend Warmer on Joy 99.7FM Friday night, bringing back good old memories.<\/p>\n
Blitz disclosed that he has been yearning to come home for some time now and as guest of this year\u2019s Accra Jazz and World Music Festival at the Alliance Francaise in Accra, the occasion couldn\u2019t have been better: \u201cI have been waiting for this since I left,\u201d he underscored.<\/p>\n
Born Samuel Baza Awuley, he sees himself as the ultimate ambassador of Ghanaian hiphop as he has played over 30 shows to a capacity crowd of 30,000 or more in the United States and Europe with world renowned acts such as Nas.<\/p>\n
Owner of Embassy MVMT, Blitz in the late 2009, was chosen as of one Beyond Race Magazine’s 50 Emerging Artists due to his passionate attachment to what has been his childhood craving.<\/p>\n
He has to his credit five albums; Soul Rebel released 2004, Double Consciousness (2005), Stereotype (2009), StereoLive (2009) and Native Sun released this year.<\/p>\n
Fired up more than ever, Blitz says he is ready to add more flavour to what Reggie Rockstone started \u2013 to connect the old (hi-life) to the new (hiphop).<\/p>\n
Blitz the Ambassador will grace the stage at the Accra Jazz and World Music Festival together with Les Nubians from France and Ghana\u2019s own V.I.P on October 15. Ahead of that, he plans to represent at the 2011 Joy FM annual Old Skuuls Renion on October 8 at the Ghana International Trade Fair Centre, La Accra.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
