A man who mutilated and killed his live-in partner at their home in Jabavu, Soweto, was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment by the Protea Magistrate’s Court on Friday.<\/p>\n

Moji Tsekedi, the daughter of Corinthians Apostolic Church Archbishop Nchime Tsekedi, was murdered by Wanda Nkosi on May 15<\/p>\n

after an argument at their home, said department of women spokesman Sibani Mngadi.<\/p>\n

Tsekedi was not seen for four days, but Nkosi went to work as usual.<\/p>\n

On May 19, neighbours decided to go to her house and investigate. Inside, they found Tsekedi’s mutilated body, said Mngadi.<\/p>\n

Nkosi had disappeared.<\/p>\n

Mngadi said Minister for Women Lulu Xingwana attended the court proceedings on Friday.<\/p>\n

He said she visited Tsekedi’s family in May because domestic violence was a matter of urgency and she wanted to make people aware of the challenges women faced.<\/p>\n

Most attacks on women were perpetrated by people close to them, said Mngadi. – Sapa<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
