Owerri\u2014 Mr. Osita\u00a0 Chidoka, Corps Marshal and Chief Executive, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Wednesday, said road accidents on Nigerian roads\u00a0will be reduced by 50 per cent in another four years.<\/p>\n

Chidoka\u00a0explained that the\u00a0major reason for accidents was not as a result of the deplorable condition of the roads,\u00a0but the recklessness of the users of the roads, which had\u00a0led to\u00a0several deaths.<\/p>\n

Chidoka has\u00a0been on a nationwide tour of\u00a0FRSC\u00a0sector commands to interact with the officers and identify their major challenges.<\/p>\n

He\u00a0urged the officers to be committed to their national assignments and conscious of their\u00a0role in\u00a0ensuring safety on roads.<\/p>\n

Chidoka\u00a0promised that FRSC would not abandon any officer who\u00a0fell\u00a0victim of any circumstance while discharging his duty, assuring them of his willingness to upgrade their welfare package.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Imo\u00a0Sector Commander, Mr\u00a0David Mondie, said the lack of logistics, such as ambulance, was a\u00a0major challenge facing the area.<\/p>\n

He said\u00a0the provision of\u00a0additional five heavy duty tow vehicles\u00a0would assist the command in rising\u00a0to the\u00a0challenge of\u00a0 dislodging the\u00a0congestion of\u00a0major roads by heavy trucks in the state.<\/p>\n

He appealed\u00a0to Chidoka to respond positively to the needs of the sector to enable it to record the desired success in its operations. (NAN)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
