{"id":472040,"date":"2011-08-05T01:25:45","date_gmt":"2011-08-05T01:25:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/08\/05\/ekiti-appointees-to-acquire-official-cars-on-lease\/"},"modified":"2011-08-05T01:25:45","modified_gmt":"2011-08-05T01:25:45","slug":"ekiti-appointees-to-acquire-official-cars-on-lease","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/08\/05\/ekiti-appointees-to-acquire-official-cars-on-lease\/","title":{"rendered":"Ekiti appointees to acquire official cars on lease"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"81\">\n<p>BY Gbenga Ariyibi<br \/>Ado Ekiti\u2014 Ekiti State Government has cancelled\u00a0given out\u00a0official cars to political office holders, saying, such appointees will now \u00a0get their official cars through a lease agreement with \u00a0banks.<\/p>\n<p>At a briefing after the weekly executive (exco) meeting yesterday, the State Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mr. Funminiyi Afuye, \u00a0said the new policy would affect all the commissioners and other top political officer holders.<\/p>\n<p>The commissioner said arrangement had been made with a bank on the procurement of the cars,\u00a0 while the state government would\u00a0only guarantee.<\/p>\n<p>Afuye said members of the state executive decided to make the sacrifice to fast track development of the state,\u00a0saying \u00a0it would be wrong for the State Government to expend money on individuals at the expense of the citizens.<\/p>\n<p>He however added that no government official would be compelled to accept the Government\u2019s offer, saying the interest and convenience of these officials will be given a premium.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo sacrifice is too much for any government official to make in the quest to serve the people, government is not a bizarre\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u2019\u2019In the past what do we have, we see official vehicles being cannibalized, some are abandoned, engines and batteries of others are removed at wills.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While asking the commissioner to give details of the terms of the agreement, Afuye said all the terms would be perfect and the terms, according to him would give room for equity<\/p>\n<p>Afuye said, the Governor was prepared to meet all the heads of Federal Ministries to ascertain what projects had been earmarked for Ekiti State and ensure that they were implemented.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Commissioner said, \u201cThe Governor is making the move to interface with the MDAs at the Federal level to know what is due to the State and I know that the Aviation Ministry, which will build the Airport in Ekiti will not be an exemption.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Comments are moderated.
