Minna \u2013 College of Education, Minna, has reprimanded 10 lecturers over alleged sexual harassment and illegal sale of handouts to students, Provost of the college, Professor Faruq Rasheed, told Governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu during a surprise visit to the institution.<\/p>\n

Two of the lecturers were dismissed while eight others were suspended for the offences.
Rasheed said that these were part of the measures taken by the management to instill discipline among lecturers and students.<\/p>\n

He added that the ban on sale of handouts to students remained even as Aliyu criticised the concentration of the issuance of NCE certificates by\u00a0 the National Commission on Colleges of Education, NCCE.<\/p>\n

He also said that the college has so far processed about 6,000 certificates to be issued to their owners, adding that all steps had been taken to check certificate racketeering in the school.<\/p>\n

Gov. Aliyu had earlier expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of teachers produced by the college.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cIt is better for the school to produce one quality teacher that will greatly improve the standard of education in the state than produce 10 unqualified teachers that will worsen the situation.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
