{"id":470971,"date":"2011-07-31T23:45:23","date_gmt":"2011-07-31T23:45:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/07\/31\/terrorism-army-drills-personnel\/"},"modified":"2011-07-31T23:45:23","modified_gmt":"2011-07-31T23:45:23","slug":"terrorism-army-drills-personnel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/07\/31\/terrorism-army-drills-personnel\/","title":{"rendered":"Terrorism: Army drills personnel"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"75\">\n<p>\u00a0BY KINGSLEY OMONOBI<\/p>\n<p>ABUJA \u2013 Following the current state of insecurity in the country, Nigerian Army has said the preparation of Non-Commissioned Officers, NCOs, for challenges ahead was inevitable.<\/p>\n<p>Chief of Staff, Army Headquarters\u2019 Garrison, Abuja, Brig-General Rufus Bamigboye,\u00a0 stated this during a military drill of Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that threat of terrorists\u2019 attacks and Boko Haram bombings had necessitated massive deployment of troops in and around Abuja, with the Army HQ Garrison and Brigade of Guards ensuring a round-the-clock monitoring of all entry and exit routes of the Federal Capital Territory.<\/p>\n<p>The exercise, which lasted two weeks, saw the soldiers partaking in 3.2kilometre dash, map reading, weapon handling, drill competition and obstacle crossing among others.<\/p>\n<p>Brig-General Bamigboye said the \u201cessence of the exercise was to bring together all our Warrant Officers and Senior NCOs, with a view to testing their sharpness, agility and discipline.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe observe that by bringing them together, we have achieved a lot because the level of understanding and professionalism has increased.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said the expectation from the officers, mainly drawn from Army headquarters and departments as Military Police, Intelligence, Administration, Policy and Plans, Standards &#038; Evaluation as well as Logistics, was for them to impact the knowledge gained to junior personnel.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Comments are moderated.
