The Reverend Kingsley Kwaku Gyekye, Pastor in charge of the Asylum-Down Congregation of the Presbyterian Church on Saturday advised politicians to stop making excuses for the country\u2019s development problems and focus on finding solutions.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cWe can blame this country\u2019s development situation on the excuses that politicians make when confronted with development issues,\u201d explaining that at any point in time it is either the NPP blaming the NDC on some issues or vice versa.<\/p>\n

Giving excuses about our inability to achieve something that does not bring progress, he said, it rather made us comfortable in the negative situation and it even made us helpless.<\/p>\n

Rev. Gyekye gave the advice during an evening service organized by the church as part of a 14-days prayer and fasting revival programme. The programme was on the theme: \u201cLeave and be Blessed,\u201d (Gen. 12).<\/p>\n

He pointed out that many Christians gave excuses for their inability to do something and usually blamed the devil for their predicaments, however, \u201cour predicaments as Christians should serve as a stepping stone for reaching greater heights.\u201d<\/p>\n

Referring to the biblical story on the lame man, who had sat at the pool of Bethsaida for 38 years, he said, when Jesus asked him if he wanted to be healed, he started making excuses about how long he had been there and the fact that he did not have anybody to help him.<\/p>\n

Rev. Gyekye said Jesus Christ did not probably need that long excuse, he only needed to know if the man wanted to be healed or not, adding, giving excuses does not bring any improvement in one\u2019s situation, it sometimes make the problem worse.<\/p>\n

Commenting on the recent floods in the Eastern Region, he said the galamsey operators might be part of the reason for the flood, but advised that the problem should be tackled as a whole and not just focus on the galamsey operators<\/p>\n

The congregation prayed for the nation.<\/p>\n

The revival would be climaxed with a thanksgiving service on Sunday, 31st July, 2011.<\/p>\n
