A Pastor of a kind wrote to me, questioning my religious inclinations and why I was challenging the powers of God in the lives of men. Sadly, it has become very easy for many of the people of this country to succumb to those who come to them in the name of God without any critical scrutiny of such people. We hear on a daily basis, some of the worst acts inflicted on our compatriots by people who portray Godliness and holiness. Many Ghanaians are so religious to a fault, in that once one’s statement is preceded by God or Allah, we easily trust strangers, and in many instances, the strangers end up messing us up.

In the year 2008, the NDC used God-fearing as an attribute of Prof. Atta Mills; by implication, some other aspirants were not God-fearing. I will always stand by my principles and ensure that my actions and inactions go to help in a very positive way, other people who are directly or remotely related to me. That is what our creator requires of all of us, and those of us who think that the only means of portraying piety is by dubiously holding the Bible in one hand and stealing from the people with the other hand, should leave the judgement of mankind to whoever will sit in judgement in future. I have had occasions to state that it is only the lazy in mind and physique who think that there is a God sitting somewhere ready to address the needs of mankind in all its facets. Having no political achievements to his credit, the NDC capitalized on religion, which is emotive in character but sometimes not rational. Ever since the NDC was voted into office, President Atta Mills has not ceased attributing his Presidency to God. I have no qualms with his religious beliefs. God or Allah is there for all those who believe in them, but what happens in the lives of individuals and countries on a daily basis has absolutely nothing to do with God or Allah. If indeed God or Allah has a day to day administration of the lives of nations or individuals, why that huge disparity in terms of the needs of nations and the basic necessities of life for individuals? As I write, there is such a serious draught in Somalia, hundreds of women and children of God are dying, while others are feeble and frail. The surviving ones are trekking long distances for survival. Elsewhere, water is also displacing other children of God in the same world administered by the same God, according to some of us. God is not that wicked to preside over the death of his or her ( I want to avoid Gender activists descending on me because God can be a him or her) children who need basic water to feed themselves, nor use the same water he or she has denied others to destroy the lives of other children elsewhere. Just this year, it so happened that in the U.S.A, while the Missisipi River was creating havoc in parts of that country, raging fire was also razing down properties in other parts of the same country. The long and short of my ntuatua is that in our part of the world, majority of what we describe as natural disasters are indeed manmade disasters. We experience floods because we do not respect the right of way of our water bodies. We experience draughts because we are destroying natural vegetations with careless abandon. Those exposing the land surface to the vagaries of the weather have little or no idea the effects of their actions, or they do them deliberately and for selfish reasons. We are building on water courses, turning Ramsar sites into residences and other structures to meet our insatiable appetites of life without any respect for what nature has offered us. Weak as we are, from the political, technocrats and religious leadership, we preside over what we all accept is wrong, and when the consequences emerge, we lift up our eyes unto the Lord for answers; that is the level of our weak mindedness. There are known flood prone areas in this country, just as we are aware of areas that are susceptible to draughts. In countries where the leadership thinks, policies and implementable programmes have been put in place to address the problems, and flooding has become history. In areas of draught, irrigations and effective afforestation programmes have turned draught lands into arable food producing lands. It took leadership that think to do that and not prayers from anybody to achieve that; let anybody challenge that. The Israelis think and defend themselves against any internal or external threats. They do not sit and pray in hope that God will protect them against their enemies. Today, Baba Jamal is telling us that when President God Atta Mills looked into the Heavens and said ‘Ewurade hu hen mmobor’ the floods in the Eastern Region receded within 24 hours. Oh, Baba, you are too educated to think superstitiously. I thought with the level of your education, you would be a little scientific and realistic about your actions rather than resort to superstition which is normally associated with those that are less endowed with formal education. The President paid a visit to the flood areas one week after the floods; it is obvious that national security will advise him as to the appropriate time for him to go there. He could not have visited when the rains were still torrential, therefore with about four days of reprieve, the floods would have started receding before President God Atta Mills went there. In any case, if President God Atta Mills can look unto the heavens for the floods to vanish, what is he doing in respect of the filth that has engulfed the capital and other cities of the country? Oh, how glad will the sons and daughters of this country be just to wake up in the morning to see that all the refuse in our cities have disappeared after supplications of our President. The miraculous President God Atta Mills looks down when driving on the seriously impassable Achimota –Ofankor road, instead of the Heavens in order that the road would be bitumen surfaced the next day. A President who has the ears and eyes of God does not need to hop from Brazil to China for loans that do not come. A little communication between President God Atta Mills and the original God should fix the STX matter. God Atta Mills, the road between Sankor Junction and Cape Three Point in the Ahanta West District of the Western Region is impassable as a result of the rains. Please bring your miraculous powers to fix the road for us. Last year, the floods devastated Buipe, Agona Swedru, Ashaiman and parts of Tema. Effiakuma and other suburbs of Sekondi Takoradi were not spared. The miraculous powers of President God Atta Mills did not go to the aid of the poor people of those communities. This year, many of those communities have suffered a similar fate. God Atta Mills should talk to the original God the more because there are more problems than we can manage. With the miracles that our President can perform, why these hullabaloo about the acquisition of the purchase of aircrafts for the Ghana Airforce? All he needs to do is to look up into the Heavens, and within 24 hours, as per Baba Jamal’s testimony, the aircrafts would be there. All the President needs to do in the Castle is to say ‘ ooooo, shabalabadaba, oooo den konko, den ko, hlebabababababa, ooooo chukuchaka chukuchaka’ all day and presto, our educational problems would be solved. University students of Legon are up in arms against increased school fees. Solution? Look unto the heavens and find answers. It is obvious that this government has nothing to offer this country except deceit in all forms. Sadly, they are extending their deception into the religious realm, and psychologically branding those who are opposed to their disrespect of the intelligence of the good people of this country, as not God fearing. Shame, you incompetent good for nothing chaps toying with the future of this country. God punish you for playing with his name. Three shots of my usual mahogany bitters will make good.
