{"id":469625,"date":"2011-07-28T08:52:00","date_gmt":"2011-07-28T08:52:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/07\/28\/im-ready%e2%80%99-new-chraj-boss-declares\/"},"modified":"2011-07-28T08:52:00","modified_gmt":"2011-07-28T08:52:00","slug":"im-ready-new-chraj-boss-declares","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/07\/28\/im-ready-new-chraj-boss-declares\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;I&#8217;m ready\u2019, new CHRAJ boss declares"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"caption\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/87b05038020x20262.jpg.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"New CHRAJ boss, Lauretta Lamptey\" title=\"New CHRAJ boss, Lauretta Lamptey\" align=\"left\" \/>The newly appointed Commissioner for the Commission of Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) has affirmed that she is ready to efficiently undertake the administrative task assigned her.<\/p>\n<p>Lauretta Vivian Lamptey, was sworn into office on Tuesday July 26, 2011 weeks after Anna Bossman resigned as Acting Commissioner to pursue other interests, having served in the post for several years.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Lamptey becomes the first woman commissioner of CHRAJ.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking for the first time after her appointment, Mrs Lamptey told Shamima Muslim, host of Citi FM\u2019s Eye Witness News, she was aware of the enormity of the task ahead but she was ready, willing and able to perform to the best of her ability.<\/p>\n<p>On the issue of primary pre-requisites of the Commission, Mrs Lamptey remarked that internally, CHRAJ was challenged in terms of resources, staffing and perhaps, additional commissioners but essentially the public required a proper understanding of the laudable work done by the Commission.<\/p>\n<p>Asked how her background as an investment banker would impact on her new role of human rights advocacy Mrs Lamptey replied: \u201cCHRAJ is a very large institution with over 800 employees so it certainly requires management even as we are dealing with the cases that come in&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The anti-corruption mandate for one, needs an understanding of the corporate sector and how corruption manifests itself. I think a broad understanding of that would be a plus&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPrior to being an investment banker I was also a lawyer and we believe that \u2018once a lawyer always a lawyer\u2019.
