IBADAN— Seventh Day Adventist church has advised the Federal Government against using force in solving the Boko Haram crisis.

At a briefing weekend, spokesman of the church in Nigeria, Pastor Oyeleke Owolabi, urged the government to call all the religious leaders, political office holders, security agencies and other stakeholders to a meeting where the problem of the religious sect would be resolved.

On the proposed Islamic banking the cleric said: “The philosophy behind the establishment of the bank, which is to reduce the suffering of the masses is good but the trademark is wrong”.

The cleric, who is also the Pro-Chancellor of Babcock University, Ilisan–Remo, Ogun State said it could not fathom why a sect would start killing and maiming innocent citizens.

Owolabi said: “As a Christian leader, I feel touched that churches were burnt, Christians were killed but I still believe that we cannot achieve peace through force, nothing good will come out of force.

“Those killing others are ignorant, what profit do they gain in killing fellow Nigerians.”

Islam means peace, if Islam is seeking peace, now, where comes killing, it is all deception. I have never seen in either Quran or Bible where it is written as kill and it shall be well with you, it’s a satanic invention, they should stop hiding under religious identity”.

On Islamic banking, he said “You don’t say a Christian bank, it is not advisable, I am not saying that Islam is not good but it is wrong in a country like ours”.
