"Scott Sinclair joined Swansea from Chelsea at the beginning of last season

Swansea City’s play-off hero Scott Sinclair will join his team-mates for their pre-season training camp in Austria when they fly out on Monday.

The 22-year-old was given extra time off by Swans boss Brendan Rodgers as he represented England in the European Under-21 Championship.

Sinclair scored 27 goals in 50 games for Swansea last season before playing in all three England U21 games.

“A rest was certainly needed,” said the former Chelsea winger.

“So I’ve come back a little bit later than the rest but I’m raring to go now.”

Sinclair scored a hat-trick in Swansea’s Championship play-off final win over Reading and then made substitute appearances in England Under-21s European Championship draws against Spain and Ukraine before the defeat by Czech Republic.

The rest of Swansea’s players returned to pre-season training on 11 July following their Premier League promotion celebrations.

But Sinclair returns to the training ground two weeks later following a long 2010/11 season – and goes straight out to their Austrian training camp on Monday.

Summer signing striker Danny Graham (dead leg), midfielder Andrea Orlandi (knee) and captain Garry Monk (foot) also travel to Austria despite suffering with injuries.

Rodgers has already conceded that centre-back Monk could miss the start of the season – which begins at Manchester City on 15 August – because of his problem.

Ferrie Bodde is also set to travel as the Dutch midfielder continues his return to full fitness following a long-standing knee injury.

Swansea beat Welsh Premier League side Afan Lido 2-0 in their latest pre-season run-out on Saturday and the Premier League newcomers are finalising details for another friendly while in Austria.

“Now we will take things up a level in Austria,” said Rodgers.
