Arsenal<\/a> are reportedly ready to up their bid to land Everton<\/a> defender Phil Jagielka<\/a> to \u00a312 million.<\/p>\n

The Gunners conceded the highest number of goals among the top four in the Premier League last season, and questions were asked of the club’s defence throughout the course of the campaign.<\/p>\n

The north London club have been linked with a number of players with Premier League experience to bolster a defence that has also been depleted this summer by the departure of left-back Gael Clichy to Manchester City.<\/p>\n

Arsenal reportedly had a \u00a310m bid for Jagielka turned down by the Toffees last week, but now The Express<\/em> claims that the bid will be increased by another \u00a32m this week.<\/p>\n

It is believed that Everton would agree to sell Jagielka if they receive an offer of \u00a317m for the former Sheffield United central defender.<\/p>\n
