Freiku<\/p>\n<p>21 July 2011<\/p>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p>Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang, Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, on Tuesday, cut the sod for commencement of work on the construction of the Centre for Continued Education of the university.<\/p>\n<p>The project, sited at Dominase in the Bekwai Municipality, the second after Accra, is christened the Dominase Campus of the Cape Coast University, and would facilitate Distance Education programmes.<\/p>\n<p>The GH\u00a23.7 billion three-storey project comprises lecture halls, a library and ICT Centre among others.<\/p>\n<p>It is to be completed in 18 months, according to Mr. William Kwaku Dogbe, Managing Director of Wilkado Construction Works Limited, contractors of the project, who says about 30 percent of work has been done, having started construction two months back. He pledged his commitment to deliver quality work on the project.<\/p>\n<p>The Vice Chancellor disclosed that the concept of bringing education to the doorsteps of beneficiaries, particularly, the youth, seen as the hope of the future, would be replicated throughout the regions.<\/p>\n<p>While urging students to learn hard to warrant their admission into the institution, Prof. Opoku Agyeman implored teachers to make the most of the facility in the vicinity, by upgrading their knowledge, and ensuring the proper upbringing of the pupils in the area to benefit from the project.<\/p>\n<p>She commended Mr. Castro Oduro Donkor, Director of Finance of the University of Cape Coast and a native of Dominase, for being instrumental in the acquisition of land for the project.<\/p>\n<p>The Vice Chancellor also commended Prof. Albert Coomson, Director of Centre for Continuing Education, and the entire university authority for the support accorded the project to its present stage.<\/p>\n<p>The project was facilitated by the release of 50 acres of land (200 building plots) by the Essumeja Traditional Council.<\/p>\n<p>Nana Ntim Banahene, Krontihene and acting President of the Essumeja Traditional Council, who is also Chief of Dominase, presided over the sod-cutting ceremony, which was attended by representatives of the Bekwai Municipal Chief Executive.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<fieldset>\n<legend align=\"center\"><strong>More News on allAfrica.com<\/strong><\/legend>\n<\/fieldset>\n<p>AllAfrica &#8211; All the Time<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>Original post:<br \/>\n<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/allafrica.com\/stories\/201107220116.html\" title=\"Ghana: Construction of Dominase Campus of Cape Vars Begins\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ghana: Construction of Dominase Campus of Cape Vars Begins<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p> Sebastian R.
