CHIEF Government spokesperson Ronnie Shikapwasha has said Patriotic Front (PF) leader Michael Sata is trying to copy from the MMD Government policies on agriculture by promising to increase the distribution of farming inputs to the farmers in Eastern Province.<\/p>\n

Lieutenant-General Shikapwasha, who is Information and Broadcasting Services minister, said the PF leader was trying to copy from the MMD Government policies of increasing the farming inputs to the farmers.<\/p>\n

Mr Sata yesterday featured on a Radio Breeze political programme where he claimed that in an event that the PF was elected, his Government would ensure 15 bags of fertiliser were given to each farmer from the current four.<\/p>\n

But Gen Shikapwasha said the PF had a bad manifesto which could bring disaster in terms of lack of food in the country if it formed Government.<\/p>\n

Gen Shikapwasha said it was not true that the PF could improve agriculture more than the MMD under President Rupiah Banda had done.<\/p>\n

“Mr Sata is just lying by saying 15 bags of fertiliser would be given to each farmer and I know that he is just trying to copy from us the Government,” he said.<\/p>\n

He said due to proper agricultural policies by the Government under President Banda, the country had produced consecutive bumper harvests which the PF could not manage to achieve.<\/p>\n

Gen Shikapwasha said the PF leader should not cheat the people that his opposition political party would promote agricultural policies.<\/p>\n

The minister said The Post newspaper which had taken a stance of campaigning for Mr Sata would be shut down in an event that the PF formed Government.<\/p>\n

The minister said the daily tabloid should be careful with the way Mr Sata was being covered because he was a dictator who would turn against the newspaper at any time.<\/p>\n

Mr Sata will destroy the media, especially The Post newspaper in an event that PF is allowed to rule the country.<\/p>\n

The Post newspaper is going to regret,” Gen Shikapwasha said. The minister also said the action to chase public media reporters in Kabwe was a bad idea. He said it was unfortunate that the PF leader was claiming that the public media were not allowed to cover their convention because they were not accredited. Mr Sata said on the same programme that the public media journalists could not be allowed to cover the PF convention in Kabwe because they were not accredited.<\/p>\n

But Gen Shikapwasha said Mr Sata was not realistic because only two weeks ago, his vice-president Guy Scott was quoted as having said the PF barred the public media because they wanted to teach the public media a lesson.<\/p>\n

Gen Shikapwasha urged the people not to listen to the lies of Mr Sata and his cohorts because he was unrealistic and inconsistent.<\/p>\n
