Harambee Stars striker Patrick Oboya is ready to leave his current club FK Banik Most of the Czech Republic. Oboya revealed this to Radio Jambo yesterday as he left the country to return to Europe after a one month’s break. “I was on loan at FC Trinec but I have a contract with Most, now am going back to FK Banik Most to see what will happen. If any club shows interest, I will know but I want to leave Most. Any opportunities to help me leave, I will welcome them.,” he said.

Oboya also took time to back his Captain Dennis Oliech on calls for wise voting during the upcoming Kenya football elections scheduled for August 13. “The people should vote wisely just as my Harambee Stars captain said. I am fully behind Denno. They have to vote wisely because Harambee Stars have got too many problems. It is time we have change for us to progress upwards.”

Oboya listed some of the problems the national team experiences as poor preparations, lack of friendly matches during the Fifa international week, poor travel arrangements and lack of kit. There is also the issue of unpaid allowances amongst many other ills.

Despite the poor management, the forward says Harambee Stars can still qualify for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations. “We have the chance but it is all about calculations, we need to try and win the remaining two matches to have a chance.”

The Czech Republic based player also applauded Victor Mugubi Wanyama’s move to Celtic, terming it a breakthrough for Kenyan football. “It is very nice; he has paved the way for us. He is the first Kenyan to play for Celtic in Scotland, playing in Scotland is like playing in England, this is great chance for him and the rest of Kenyan players because he has paved the way for us. I pray for the best for him,” Oboya. said.

On the Kenyan Premier League, Oboya said the standards have risen tremendously and prays that the KPL management maintain the high standards to make the league even better. “Fans are back in the stadium and you feel like you in a football stadium. Great improvement.”
