Kevin Foley has signed a contract extension which will keep him at the club until 2015.

The English-born Republic of Ireland international has made over 150 appearances for the Midlands club and featured regularly last season as Mick McCarthy’s side narrowly avoided relegation

Foley told the club’s official website: “The new contract extends my future here by four years and I was really happy the club wanted to do that.

“I’ve spent four years here now – two in the Championship and two in the Premier League – and feel like I’ve made good progress and that’s something I want to continue.

“I think I’ve developed a lot over the last four years. I had four great years at Luton and coming here was a much bigger step up but I managed to establish myself in the team in the first two years.”

“We won a medal with the Championship title, which is like gold dust in football.

“Then I managed to get in the team in the Premier League over the last two years and that tells me I’m doing something right.

“My aim is to play as many Premier League games as I can.”

Foley was also keen to highlight the spirit in the Wolves camp and pointed to morale as the reason why many of the current squad have extended their stay at the club.

“A lot of the lads have been happy to commit their futures and I think the key to that is how well everyone gets on and with the management staff as well,” he continued.

“It’s a team game and nobody ever feels left out even if they are not playing.

“It’s a squad game and you need everybody ready and that sort of team spirit makes it a good place to stay rather than wanting to leave.

“Anyone who has ever come here on loan or as a permanent signing has been made welcome.

“It’s important that we’ve got a lot of key players tied down to long-term contracts for a good few years along with the new players coming in.”

The 26-year-old believes that new signings to freshen things up are inevitable.

“I don’t think the team has ever changed too much from the time I came in,” he said.

“It’s always been about adding bits around the edges and improving it gradually.

“Players come in and are part of it and the following season the same thing happens again.

“It’s important to keep the nucleus of the squad which we’ve managed to do while adding to it every season.”
