Academic work at the Institute of Distance Learning (IDL) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi has received a massive boost.<\/p>\n

This pleasant news was made possible following Fidelity Bank Ghana\u2019s presentation of 10 brand new computers to the IDL Department of the university.<\/p>\n

The donation consist of seven desktops and three laptops, valued at a staggering GH\u00a213,000, John Mensah Bafana, Fidelity Bank Branch Manager of Atonsu announced.<\/p>\n

The donation, he noted, forms part of Fidelity Bank\u2019s corporate social responsibility aimed at boosting academic work at KNUST.<\/p>\n

He added that it is also geared towards deepening the existing cordial relationship between KNUST and Fidelity Bank, noting that the presentation was in response to an earlier appeal made to his outfit by KNUST.<\/p>\n

Mr. Mensah Bafana stressed that the donation would not be a nine-day wonder, promising that his outfit would in the near future assist KNUST to train future leaders of the country.<\/p>\n

On her part, Sharon Asante, Branch Manager, Fidelity Bank, Ahodwo, said her outfit has carved a niche for itself as the ideal banking institute for the populace since it started its operations in the country.<\/p>\n

Fidelity Bank\u2019s relationship with the KNUST started two years ago immediately the viable financial institution entered the Ashanti regional market.<\/p>\n

Kobby Yebo Okrah, Registrar, KNUST, after receiving the items, praised Fidelity Bank for assisting the department of IDL, urging other corporate institutions to emulate their shining example.<\/p>\n

He said the university is proud to work with Fidelity Bank, noting that the two institutions could improve their existing relationship.<\/p>\n

The KNUST, he noted, want to collaborate with organizations in the areas of students industrial attachment, research development and overall development of the country.<\/p>\n

Ghana, he said, needs to focus on science and technology as it aspires to catch up with developed countries in the world, expressing the hope that the necessary facilities needed to achieve the target would be provided.<\/p>\n

The Dean of IDL, Prof. Kwame Isaac Dontwi, said his outfit is adventurous and intends to operate in every part of the country, urging corporate institutions in the country to emulate Fidelity Bank by supporting his outfit to realize its goals.<\/p>\n

The presentation ceremony, held on Tuesday, was attended by Juliana Oppong Bawuah and Kofi Poku Agyeman, Fidelity Bank Branch Mangers for Adum and Suame respectively.<\/p>\n

Fidelity Bank, which has five branches in the Garden City, started operations in Kumasi in the Ashanti region two years ago.<\/p>\n
