Such a welcome shows how eager the people at the grassroots are to host a man who has brought so much positive changes to their lives within a short span of time.<\/p>\n<p>We wish to commend the people of the NBR for honouring their promise and coming out in their numbers to welcome the president. They have indeed indicated that come November 24th, the APRC will register another landslide victory. We are optimistic that such rousing welcome will be accorded to the president and entourage in other regions of the country.<\/p>\n<p>It is also worth noting that in his first meeting with the people as the tour kicked off Monday, the president reiterated his call for Gambians particularly the youths to change their attitude and go back to the land so that collectively we can become food self-sufficient and accomplish the nation&#8217;s development agenda.<\/p>\n<p>Such a call is an indication that the president has a strong desire for the development of the country, and wants every citizen to contribute his or her quota in this effort to develop the country. We therefore hope that people, particularly the youths would take advantage of the president&#8217;s tour, which has come at the very start of the farming season, to venture into agricultural activities.<\/p>\n<p>They should be aware that there can be no sustainable development if what we consume is imported from outside. An agrarian nation is a wealthy nation. The Gambia belongs to all of us; it is in the best interest of patriotism to complement the efforts of the government in development.
