The Kotoka International Airport<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) is supporting the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) with a $600,000 grant to refurbish the passenger terminal at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).<\/p>\n

According to the USTDA, the grant will fund the construction design specifications and tender documents for the refurbishment of the passenger terminal at the airport.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) continues its support of and relationship with the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) by signing a $600,000 grant to develop the construction design specifications and tender documents for the refurbishment of the passenger terminal at Kotoka International Airport in Accra\u201d, the USTDA says in a press release.<\/p>\n

The grant was signed at the U.S. Embassy in Accra by Ambassador Donald G. Teitelbaum on behalf of the United States Government and Mrs. Doreen Owusu Fianko, Managing Director of Ghana Airports Company Limited.<\/p>\n

The technical assistance will be carried out by The LPA Group Incorporated, the USTDA said.<\/p>\n

When completed, the refurbished passenger terminal will facilitate higher volumes of passenger traffic at the airport, reduce congestion, and greatly improve the efficiency of airport operations.<\/p>\n

It is believed that this will also improve air travel in the West African sub-region.<\/p>\n

In February 2009, Ghana received<\/a> a $1.1 million grant from the US government to modernize the same airport.<\/p>\n
