Trendy music types, tourists and linen-clad organic food fans, shoulder-to-shoulder inside a big hole in the ground.<\/p>\n

It must be time for the Eden sessions again. This year kicked off with 90s psychedelic indie rockers Primal Scream, supported by the synth and guitar sounds of The Horrors.<\/p>\n

Joining the current trend of bands touring their classic albums, Bobby Gillespie and co are running with 1991\u2019s Screamadelica.<\/p>\n

This was the record that unified the rave and indie cultures at the time and became one of the genre defining albums of the 90s.<\/p>\n

As the sun dipped under the edge of the disused quarry in which the Eden Project is situated, The Horrors kicked off the night with a dark, brooding and somewhat unenthusiastic set.<\/p>\n

The subdued audience seemingly preferring to avoid the chilly Cornish evening until the headline act.<\/p>\n

After a brief interval, the main event. If shirts are any guide to intention, Bobby\u2019s golden metallic number signalled a flamboyant evening ahead.<\/p>\n

Opening, like the album, with the gospel themed Movin\u2019 on Up, the band worked their way through the tracks, albeit in a re-worked order.<\/p>\n

With the crowd dancing along to an energetic performance, the band rolled into the epic Higher than the Sun, arguably the stand-out track from the album.<\/p>\n

Trippy stage projections combined with the surreal backdrop of the Eden domes provided the perfect setting.<\/p>\n

Baggy classic Loaded followed and the Screamadelica set was brought to a close with a brave attempt to get the audience to sing the chorus to Come Together a cappella.<\/p>\n

Screamadelica exhausted, room had been left for some popular classics.<\/p>\n

Country Girl and Jailbird went down well and the rush to the car park was put on hold until after the final, and widely expected Rocks was enthusiastically served up.<\/p>\n

The night was a 20 year flashback for an appreciative crowd. There was the distinct impression that many of the audience had been there and done it the first time around.<\/p>\n

The 90s indie kids now have children of their own and 11pm on a school night seemed a lot later than it once did.<\/p>\n

But for one early-summer evening (and ignoring the luminous
\u00a0bio-domes in the background) it was 1991 again in a Cornish field.<\/p>\n
