Former Deputy Minister of Women and Children\u2019s Affairs in the erstwhile Kufuor Administration, J. B. Danquah Adu, has vowed to knock out any political opponent that will square off with him for the Akim Abuakwa North seat in the 2012 elections.<\/p>\n
The former deputy minister believes not even the President, Professor John Evans Atta Mills can win if pitted against him for that particular seat.<\/p>\n
Interestingly, J.B Danquah Adu who is aspiring for the seat on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), was once the Member of Parliament for the area. He lost the bid to represent the constituents to NPPs Prof Samuel Kwadwo Amoako, but in a dramatic parliamentary primary held on April 30th, he soundly defeated the incumbent who polled just two (2) votes whiles he (J.B) polled 296 of the delegates\u2019 votes.<\/p>\n
The jostle for the Abuakwa North seat heightened following the decision by Victor Smith, Ghana\u2019s Ambassador to Serbia and former aide to ex-president Rawlings to try his luck in the parliamentary elections on the ticket of the ruling party.<\/p>\n
Widely considered a no-go area for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the former Head of Protocol at the Presidency told newsmen a couple of weeks ago that he is motivated by the numerous calls on him from constituents both home and abroad to challenge the NPP for the seat.<\/p>\n
But in an apparent response to Victor Smith\u2019s declaration, the former Deputy Minister threw down the gauntlet to his competitor and confidently stated he will retain the seat for the NPP no matter who contests against him.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
