Lady Rev. Adelaide Heward-Mills of the Light House Chapel International has urged Ghanaian couples to take the institution of marriage seriously and look up to God during hard times.<\/p>\n

Lady Rev. Heward-Mills who was the Guest of Honour at the opening ceremony of this year\u2019s Joy Beauty and Bridal Fair currently underway at the Accra International Conference Centre admonished young people who are getting into marriage to do so with the desire to serve and not be served.<\/p>\n

She said \u201cit is obvious to all of us that marriage is under attack and everything that God has made and God has instituted like marriage is being attacked by the enemy in no subtle way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lady Rev. Heward Mills explained that because people have departed from the Divine Manual that God has given about the institution and therefore marriages are not successful these days.<\/p>\n

She stated that Ghanaians must submit themselves to God\u2019s word if they want their union to survive. \u201cThere is a cross in every marriage. There is a crucifixion in every marriage\u2026 the cross is part of every life\u2026 Therefore if you want a successful marriage, there is a cross and that cross is sacrifice.\u201d<\/p>\n

She said the situation where couples look at what they can get from marriages instead of what they can give must stop.<\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes you have a need that you expect your partner to meet and he may not be around to meet it. Then you begin to sulk, you become something else because you feel that what I invested in, I am not getting [anything]out of it but marriage is not an investment to get something out of it. Marriage is to give yourself and as you give yourself, you encourage your partner to also give himself and God who is the manufacturer of marriage blesses it,\u201d she stressed.<\/p>\n

Lady Rev. Adelaide Heward-Mills, who is the wife of the Presiding Bishop of the Light House Chapel International, Bishop Dag Heward-Mills said, due to the selfishness of people who enter marriage these days it is difficult to make things work. She therefore admonished couples to be selfless.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn order to safeguard the institution of marriage upon which nationhood is built, we need to sacrifice our desires, our expectations and decide that what am I going to put in this thing that I\u2019m entering that will make a difference,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

…and John Dumelo said “I do”<\/strong><\/span>
\nThe surprise package for this year’s event was revealed when the bride and groom of the fair were revealed. Guess what! They were Joy FM’s very own Araba Koomson and renowned young actor John Dumelo!<\/p>\n

They were clad in the white wedding attire while another couple was gorgeously dressed in a traditional wedding costume.<\/p>\n

The Human Resource Manager of Joy FM Tina Nahyi who welcomed exhibitors and patrons to the event said this year\u2019s fair is unique because it has brought together a larger number of providers of marriage-related products and services in Ghana.<\/p>\n

She said \u201cwe developed this event to make wedding planning easy and fun and to make the wedding day the most memorable day in one\u2019s life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mrs. Nahyi said the days for the remainder of the fair would be themed which will include the Traditional wedding day, Beverage day and the White wedding day.<\/p>\n

She said patrons will witness a repackaged marriage seminar to meet the present challenges in marriage.<\/p>\n

Over a hundred exhibitors are participating in this year\u2019s event which will run till Sunday evening.<\/p>\n

The event is organised by Joy FM and powered by myjoyonline.com.<\/p>\n
