Members of Get Atta Mills Endorsed (GAME) and Friends of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings (FONKAR) in the Ashanti region have postponed their peace and unity march scheduled to be held on July 1.<\/p>\n
The march has been postponed to a later date within next week.<\/p>\n
The march was to demonstrate to Ghanaians that there is peace and tranquillity within the NDC ahead of ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) July 8 delegate congress in Sunyani,.<\/p>\n
The supporters of the two candidates contesting for the flagbearership position of the party intend to use the event to unite for victory in election 2012.<\/p>\n
According to a member of GAME and an organiser of the peace march, Francis Dodovi, the postponement is due to discussions between both parties.<\/p>\n
He was optimist that both parties (GAME\/FONKAR) will be seen together marching on the principal streets of Kumasi within next week.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will demonstrate to the world that after the congress we are still one united party\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Francis Dodovi noted that the march is also to foster unity among members of the ruling party who are divided over the candidature of President Mills and Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.<\/p>\n
The GAME member stressed that it will be very difficult for the ruling party to retain power in the 2012 general elections if they come back from the congress divided.<\/p>\n
