Manchester City<\/a> are stepping up their interest in Everton<\/a> defender Leighton Baines<\/a> according to the Daily Mirror<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Reports suggest that City boss Roberto Mancini is willing to pay \u00a310 million – half of Everton’s valuation for the player.<\/p>\n

Mancini will reportedly sweeten the deal, however, by offering Everton a choice of his unwanted stars.<\/p>\n

Emmanuel Adebayor could be on that list after being strongly linked with a move away from Eastlands this summer.<\/p>\n

Adebayor spent the second half of last season at Real Madrid who subsequently turned down the chance to sign the Togolese forward permanently.<\/p>\n

Other names reportedly being offered to the Toffees are Shaun Wright-Phillips and Craig Bellamy.<\/p>\n

Former England left back Wayne Bridge could also be put forward as a direct replacement for Baines.<\/p>\n

Baines enjoyed a fine season at Goodison Park last season, playing in every minute of Everton’s Premier League campaign and was awarded two player of the season awards.<\/p>\n

Everton are seemingly looking to sell players to raise funds for their top target, Charles N’Zogbia.<\/p>\n
