{"id":450146,"date":"2011-06-29T10:50:15","date_gmt":"2011-06-29T10:50:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/06\/29\/magistrate-denies-reports-of-his-arrest-in-ethiopia\/"},"modified":"2011-06-29T10:50:15","modified_gmt":"2011-06-29T10:50:15","slug":"magistrate-denies-reports-of-his-arrest-in-ethiopia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/06\/29\/magistrate-denies-reports-of-his-arrest-in-ethiopia\/","title":{"rendered":"Magistrate Denies Reports of His Arrest in Ethiopia"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"27.0852557673\">\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nation.co.ke\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/allafrica.com\/img\/static\/publishers\/minibanners\/nation180.jpg\" alt=\"The Nation (Nairobi)\" title=\"Visit The Nation (Nairobi)\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>28 June 2011<\/p>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p>Nairobi \u2014 Moyale senior resident magistrate Gathogo Sogomo on Tuesday denied reports that he was arrested and locked up by Ethiopian security forces at the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Sogomo said he has never had problems with Ethiopian security forces and had worked peacefully with his counterparts from the neighbouring country.<\/p>\n<p>However, an officer at Moyale Police Station said the magistrate was arrested and released under stringent conditions.<\/p>\n<p>The officer said Mr Sogomo was ordered to report to the Ethiopian police station every morning until the officer-in-charge returns from Addis Ababa.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Since Monday the magistrate has been reporting to the Ethiopian police station at 8 am before starting his duties,&#8221; said the officer, on condition of anonymity.<\/p>\n<p>It was not clear when the officer in-charge at the Ethiopian police station will return to his duty base and clear with the magistrate.<\/p>\n<p>When asked about the unfolding saga concerning the magistrate&#8217;s release, Moyale DC Joshua Nkanata said he does not have the details but promised to enquire and return to us.<\/p>\n<p>That did not happen and efforts to reach him were futile.
