Reverend Kwasi Yeboah, Atonsu District Minister of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana has described homosexuality and lesbianism as acts of abomination and curse.<\/p>\n
He, therefore, appealed to Parliament to enact laws to abhor such acts which infringed on the liberties and rights of the citizenry on laid down traditions and customs.<\/p>\n
Rev. Yeboah was delivering the sermon at a thanksgiving service to climax activities to mark the 10th anniversary of the Atonsu District Women\u2019s Fellowship at the Bethel Congregation, Atonsu, Kumasi.<\/p>\n
It was on the theme: \u201cEmpowered by the Holy Spirit – The Noble Woman\u201d. The nine-member District Executive Committee of the Fellowship was returned unopposed to steer affairs for the next three years.<\/p>\n
Rev. Yeboah pointed out that the issue should not be left for a section of the society to debate and come out with solutions but every Ghanaian had a stake and should join the crusade to eliminate the canker from the society before the country was plunged into destruction.<\/p>\n
\u201cHomosexuality and lesbianism are gaining grounds in the society. We should speak against it otherwise in future, we will elect leaders with these traits and the country will be doomed. Leadership is to serve but not to bring destruction to the citizenry,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Rev. Yeboah said a noble woman was one who feared God and could change a bad situation to become good, had compassion and imbued with peace, courageous and speak against ills in the society.
He noted that women with some peculiar qualities had a role to play in activities of the church for growth and should not be deterred but live up to expectation.<\/p>\n
Madam Tina A. Adutwumwaa, Atonsu District President of the Fellowship, said membership had increased over the period. Evangelism, she said had also been intensified to win more souls for the Lord.<\/p>\n
She said waiting patiently for the Lord\u2019s blessing was one of the most difficult things in the life of a Christian, but with determination it could be achieved.<\/p>\n
Madam Adutwumwaa noted that being away from home for three days was ideal for them to be strengthened by the Holy Spirit and grow spiritually and work for the Lord.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo grow spiritually, we need to devote ourselves to study the Word of God. It is the Word of God that will keep anybody away from sin and social vices\u201c, she added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
