ABUJA-THE House of Representatives yesterday said it would partner with the diplomatic community in Nigeria to further entrench democracy in the country.<\/p>\n

The Speaker , Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, disclosed this when the\u00a0 British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Andrew Lloyd, visited him in Abuja.<\/p>\n

Tambuwal said the House recognised the long standing relationship with the British government and would not only work to sustain it, but also explore necessary collaboration that would consolidate democracy in the country.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Lloyd congratulated the speaker on his election and described democracy in Nigeria as critical to the success of democracy on the African continent.<\/p>\n

In another development, Tambuwal said that the House was ready to support the National Hajj Commission to enhance its operations.<\/p>\n

He gave this assurance when a delegation of the commission, led by its Executive Chairman ,Alhaji Mohammed Bello, visited him in his office.<\/p>\n

He said the House was interested in whatever the commission was doing to enhance its operations.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe must always take interest\u00a0 in whatever your commission and your sister commission is doing to ensure that we have hitch-free exercise.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are here for you, we are ready and ever willing to continue to support whatever your commission is doing,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Bello said in the last four years, the commission had tried to work on logistics to improve the operations of the commission.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
