{"id":448821,"date":"2011-06-27T18:12:31","date_gmt":"2011-06-27T18:12:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.net\/2011\/06\/27\/tanzania-mbeya-cement-tames-accidents-to-improve-performance\/"},"modified":"2011-06-27T18:12:31","modified_gmt":"2011-06-27T18:12:31","slug":"tanzania-mbeya-cement-tames-accidents-to-improve-performance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2011\/06\/27\/tanzania-mbeya-cement-tames-accidents-to-improve-performance\/","title":{"rendered":"Tanzania: Mbeya Cement Tames Accidents to Improve Performance"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"35.9802739726\">\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/dailynews.co.tz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tanzania Daily News<\/a> (Dar\u00a0es\u00a0Salaam)<\/p>\n<p>27 June 2011<\/p>\n<hr class=\"thin clear\" \/>\n<p>SAFETY at work place is a priority which has assisted Mbeya Cement Company Limited maintain its lead in the local market, the company&#8217;s General Manager Mbuvi Ngunze has said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Ngunze was speaking in Dar es Salaam over the weekend during the climax of a month-long safety focused activities which were introduced by its holding conglomerate Lafarge based in Paris, France.<\/p>\n<p>He said that last year, the company had a single fatal accident which involved its truck shipping coal from Malawi to its Mbeya manufacturing plant.<\/p>\n<p>He said MCC actively involves its transport partners in road safety training provided by Traffic Police in Mbeya which has helped to check against accidents which cause loss of life and property.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We regularly work with Regional Traffic Officer in Mbeya to assist with training our drivers and transport partners who distribute our products in the neighbouring countries including Burundi, Malawi, Congo and Rwanda,&#8221; Ngunze pointed out.<\/p>\n<p>The MCC which was privatized in 2001 with Lafarge taking a controlling 65 per cent of the stake while the government and National Social Security Fund (NSSF) retain 25 and 10 per cent respectively.<\/p>\n<p>The company has a capacity to produce over 350,000 metric tons of cement per annum from its Mbeya plant.
