\"Neil Taylor has made three appearances for Wales<\/span> <\/p>\n

Swansea City have rejected an undisclosed offer from Newcastle for defender Neil Taylor.<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old left-back was a key part of the Swansea side which won promotion to the Premier League<\/a> in May.<\/p>\n

Newcastle lodged a bid earlier this month but Swans chairman Huw Jenkins is keen to keep hold of the youngster.<\/p>\n

Jenkins told the club’s website: “I spoke to Neil’s agent today and he understands the situation. He has an important role to play at this club.”<\/p>\n

Taylor made 32 appearances for Brendan Rodgers’ side last season, including the 4-2 play-off final win over Reading at Wembley<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He is now expected to stay at the Liberty Stadium as the Welsh club prepare for their first season in the top flight since 1982.<\/p>\n

“We recognise Neil as a young, talented Welsh player,” Jenkins added.<\/p>\n

“We brought him here from Wrexham and have helped nurture his development. He adjusted very well to the Championship last season and we look forward to seeing him play a big role as we enter the Premier League.<\/p>\n

“That is why we have rejected Newcastle’s bid. We have a big challenge ahead in the Premier League, but together we can maintain the progress made by this club over the last few years.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
