Nairobi \u2014 Former Starehe MP Gerishon Kirima’s son was on Friday morning killed in a grisly road accident on Nairobi’s Waiyaki Way.Mr Samwel Ndei Kirima was driving from Westlands when he rammed another lorry, which was moving in the same direction next to Safaricom headquarters.<\/p>\n

Nairobi Area traffic police boss Lumumba Adera said the accident happened at around 2.30am and he died on the spot.<\/p>\n

Family sources say that he was from a family meeting when he rammed a lorry belonging to S.S Mehta Construction Company, who are re-carpeting the Waiyaki Way.<\/p>\n

The meeting allegedly ended after they disagreed but they could not say where he went to before proceeding to his residence in Lavington.<\/p>\n

His vehicle was written off and both vehicles were towed to Parklands police station.<\/p>\n

Mr Kirima died on December 28, last year in South Africa, leaving a divided family.<\/p>\n

Mr Ndei and his step-brother John Kamau Kirima had been having legal battles over the control of their father’s property in Njiru and Embakasi estates.<\/p>\n

Mr Kamau had disagreed with his step-brother, claiming that Mr Ndei filed a notice to include himself (Ndei) as a partner with the Registrar General in April 2009, without his consent or the father’s.<\/p>\n

The following month, Mr Ndei allegedly filed another notice indicating that the partnership had ceased. He then single-handedly instructed his lawyers to register Kirima and Sons Ltd.<\/p>\n

The drama in the family grabbed headlines after the children from the first and second wives claimed that their father had been drugged and bewitched.<\/p>\n

Mr Kirimas’ third wife Teresia, who was living with him, had bitter exchanges with the step-children.<\/p>\n

At one point, the former Starehe MP addressed his children and journalists that they should book appointments to see him and that he was safe and happy.<\/p>\n

A week later, the children used administration police to forcefully take their father out of the house, a move which did not go well with Ms Wairimu.<\/p>\n

She moved to court to be given permission to see her husband, a move that did not bear fruit.<\/p>\n

Although the children claimed initially that they were interested in their aging father’s health, it later emerged they were also interested in his vast estate.<\/p>\n
