Tefu Mashamaite put pen to paper in a deal that will see him at Kaizer Chiefs for the next three years.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old joins the Amakhosi after a successful season as BidVest Wits captain.<\/p>\n

You have joined Chiefs from Wits, why the move?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wits is a great team for a person to mature as a player. There are quite a few young guys and it is a great club to learn at.<\/p>\n

During my time there I really had a lot of fun and grew as a player. I chose to come to Kaizer Chiefs because it is a great opportunity for me to grow even more as a player.<\/p>\n

Chiefs have a great set-up and are extremely well organised. I just felt it was time for me to move to a bigger club and to start winning more trophies.<\/p>\n

Do you think that will happen at Chiefs?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes definitely. Chiefs are one of the biggest clubs in Africa and their goal is to win trophies every season, especially the league title. I would really like to help Chiefs to their first league title in a while next season.<\/p>\n

How did your transfer to the Soweto giants come about?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Actually Bobby (Motaung) enquired about me last year December. He spoke to me personally and I refereed him to my agent, Jazzman. They have been talking ever since and then at the end of the season it got serious.<\/p>\n

I actually had a couple of offers from SuperSport United and Orlando Pirates, but I chose to come to Kaizer Chiefs because like I said I want grow more as a player and win trophies. It is also the team I supported growing up.<\/p>\n

How would you sum up Wits 2010\/11 season?<\/strong><\/p>\n

It was ok. We didn\u2019t start as well as we would have liked, but we came good in the middle and towards the end of the season. We were unhappy we didn\u2019t win any trophies, but overall it was ok.<\/p>\n

What are some of your best memories at Wits?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Winning the Nedbank Cup in 2010 and scoring two goals against Mamelodi Sundowns in the space of two minutes in one match against them. But I am looking to make better memories at Chiefs.<\/p>\n

Valery Nahayo has left Chiefs for a club in Belgium and many are saying you were acquired as a direct replacement for him. How do you feel about that?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019m not Nahayo and I don\u2019t want to be compared to him. He was great player for Chiefs and he proved himself. Now I want to prove myself and add my own value to Chiefs.<\/p>\n

You were the captain at Wits, how do you think that will help at Chiefs?<\/strong><\/p>\n

My leadership skills will come in handy because as a captain you always have to talk and communicate with your players. As a centre-back you also have to talk and organise at the back. Communication and organisation is very important in defence.<\/p>\n

What do you think will be the toughest challenge at Chiefs?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Every game is like a cup final. Every game is a big game at a club like Chiefs because every team you come up against wants to beat a big club like the Amakhosi. This means I will always have to be on my toes and I can\u2019t afford to be inconsistent.<\/p>\n

Playing at Chiefs is high pressure football and there are always going to be challenges and you have to step-up. It is a mental thing and I will have to prepare my mind for it.<\/p>\n

What are some of your goals at Chiefs?<\/strong><\/p>\n

To lift the league title would be the best achievement.<\/p>\n

Chiefs have been winning cup competitions every season and it has been a while since they lifted the league trophy.<\/p>\n

It would be a real honour to win the league with Chiefs.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/p>\n
