Manchester United<\/a> midfielder Nani<\/a> says he is confident he will not lose his first team place despite the arrival of Ashley Young<\/a>.<\/p>\n

United completed the signing of Young from Aston Villa last week for an initial fee believed to be in the region of \u00a317 million, and the 25-year-old has immediately set his sights on securing a regular first team place.<\/p>\n

But Nani, who missed out on a starting berth in the Champions League final despite winning United\u2019s player of the season award last term, insists he does not see Young as a threat, and believes new signings can only help the club in the hunt for trophies going forward.<\/p>\n

“Of course I have to welcome everyone they sign,” he told reporters. “I think Manchester United is a fantastic club.<\/p>\n

“When they bring in new players, they know if it is good for the team or not, and this signing has to help them. It is good for the team, we want more players to help us to win trophies.<\/p>\n

“I’ve been at United when Cristiano Ronaldo was there. Cristiano was one of the best players in the world. At that moment I had no worries about him taking my place.”<\/p>\n
