AWKA\u2014THE Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Hafiz Ringim, is to visit the troubled Obosi community in Idemili North Local Government Area this week to interact with the leaders of thought in the area over the activities of an outlawed group, Adike Peace Foundation, APF.<\/p>\n

Following APF\u2019s activi-ties, which led to the death of many people in the town, Anambra State govern-ment banned the group last year and arrested some of its leaders.<\/p>\n

A prominent member of the community, Prince Chinedum Iweka, told Vanguard, weekend, that the IG was scheduled to be in Obosi last week, adding that the visit had to be shifted following the recent bomb blast at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.<\/p>\n

Iweka, however, expres-sed worry that since the visit of the IG was made public, leader of APF, Mr. Omezie Chukwurah, had assembled members of his group and urged them not to entertain any fear because of his alleged closeness with the Police chief.<\/p>\n

He said one of the issues the IG would look into was the allegation that Obosi militants had been colluding with Anambra State Police Command to arrest innocent people on the trumped-up charge that they were responsible for the killing of an 83-year-old man, Ogbuechi Arinze, at Obosi Town Hall last month.<\/p>\n

According to him, the people of Obosi will be ready to take the IG to the Owelle Aja bush and Chukwurah\u2019s hotel where members of APF were hiding and from where they had been launching attacks on the community.<\/p>\n

He said:\u00a0 \u201cThere had been several mass arrests of those opposed to APF presence in Obosi and many people were hurled into prison under trumped \u2013up charges.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn all these, the police in Anambra State had not hidden its support to this terror group as its leaders had been going about their businesses without molestation.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith the situation degenerating to anarchy and posing serious security threats, our prominent son, Chief Emeka Anyaoku stepped in and presided over several peace meetings alongside other illustrious sons of Obosi and a new body to replace the banned APF was formed.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said it was after the ban that the APF militants went underground and started harassing the community incessantly, leading to the death of many people in the area.<\/p>\n

Iweka also explained that the community had sent a Save-Our-oul, SOS, to President Goodluck Jonathan appealing to him to intervene in the matter to save Obosi from bondage.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
