A member of the National Democratic Congress, James Agalgah says he will sue the National Communication Authority (NCA) if his mobile SIM card is deactivated at the end of the SIM Card registration exercise.<\/p>\n
The one year long exercise of the National Communication Authority is scheduled to end on June 30 but many Ghanaians are yet to register their SIM cards.<\/p>\n
The NCA has refused several calls for it to extend the exercise to cater for the many unregistered subscribers.<\/p>\n
Speaking on Citi FM\u2019s Saturday Political Talk Show, \u201cthe Big Issue\u201d, Mr. Agalgah stated that although he has registered his number, he still receives notifications that his SIM card has not been registered.<\/p>\n
\u201cI registered my number but after some time I got some feedback to the effect that there was something wrong with my registration so I should go back and have it rectified. I have not had time to go back to rectify that so if after 1st of July I lose that contact, is it through any fault of mine, as far as I am concerned I used a valid ID card to register\u2026if they dare cancel my number I am contemplating a law suit\u201d.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Deputy Communications Director of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Boabeng Asamoah has joined in the group of persons questioning the legal authority of the National Communication Authority to deactivate unregistered SIM cards by the end of June 2010.<\/p>\n
According to him, there is a need to extend the exercise to cater for persons who have had their registration annulled due to technical reasons.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
