Aston Villa<\/a> are reportedly interested in a shock \u00a314 million bid for former midfielder James Milner<\/a>, according to The Daily Mirror<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old England international was a regular at Villa Park after joining the club initially on loan in 2005 and making the deal permanent in 2008 after returning to Newcastle United.<\/p>\n

However, Milner is now apparently concerned that he may slip down the pecking order at Manchester City, only a year after being sold to the Eastlands club for a club record \u00a323 million transfer fee.<\/p>\n

Villa manager Alex McLeish said:\u00a0 \u201cDarren Bent has been in sensational form scoring goals for this club since he signed in January, but he needs a supplier and the ammunition to carry that on.\u201d<\/p>\n

McLeish is also reportedly interested in Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross, as he appears to have some doubts about the longevity of current central defensive partnership Richard Dunne and James Collins.<\/p>\n
