evertontv<\/em>, the former Manchester United man insisted there were many positives to be taken from last season, arguing that the club were laying solid foundations on which to build future success.<\/p>\n“I think if you ask a lot of Evertonians I think they\u2019d be quite disappointed with the season. I think the manager would be and I think the players would be,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
“There\u2019s been a lot of negativity surrounding the club this season but we should snap out of that. We finished seventh in the table, we finished eighth the season before that so in terms of league position we\u2019ve improved on last season.<\/p>\n
“I think we\u2019re so close to something very special here, the positives we can take out of this season and the foundations are as strong as ever, the spirit and the togetherness of the manager, the players, the staff, the supporters, the whole club is still there.<\/p>\n
“As long as you\u2019ve got that foundation you can always be positive.”<\/p>\n
Neville also pointed to the quality of the young players at Everton as proof that the club had plenty to look forward to and urged fans and players alike, to stay positive.<\/p>\n
“The Under-18s have just won the Youth League, we\u2019ve got young players coming through, a manager who is not afraid to blood young players and I think the future is bright,” he added.<\/p>\n
“Yes we\u2019ve had disappointments this year, probably more disappointments than the good bits but we can still look back on this year and be proud that we\u2019ve recovered well from a bad start.<\/p>\n
“We\u2019ve finished the season strongly we\u2019re in seventh place in the league, we\u2019ve beaten some very good teams and we\u2019ve played some fantastic football. Maybe we should concentrate on the positives rather than the negatives.”<\/p>\n
