The National Executive Council (NEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), said on Friday the management of the party had no knowledge of the launch of a song for the party\u2019s electioneering in 2012.<\/p>\n
It said the executive should not be associated with the launch
ceremony scheduled for the International Trade Fair Centre in Accra on
Friday. \u201cThe NEC wishes to indicate that management of the party has no
knowledge of the song, and should not be associated with the launch
ceremony scheduled for the International Trade Fair Centre, La, in
Accra this evening,\u201d the party said in a statement signed by Mr
Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, General Secretary.<\/p>\n
The statement said: \u201cAlthough the NEC appreciates the zeal of its
individual members and contestants to use the party colours to promote
events, including songs, we wish to caution that such events or
programmes must be implemented within the confines of the party\u2019s
rules and regulations.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe NEC wishes to remind the party members and the general
public that the Party is yet to elect its flag bearer for the 2012
elections in line with Article 43 of the Party\u2019s constitution.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is, therefore, premature for anybody to be presented as the
flag bearer of the NDC for the 2012 elections before the Party\u2019s
special delegates\u2019 Congress which comes off in Sunyani on the 9th of
July.<\/p>\n
We hope the Party will not find any further reason to invoke any
stiffer sanction beyond this caution statement.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
