Chelsea<\/a> defender Branislav Ivanovic<\/a> is hoping to bring trophies back to Stamford Bridge after a season without silverware.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Serbian international, who was deployed regularly at both full-back and centre-back last campaign, will be playing under new manager Andre Villas-Boas at Stamford Bridge in the 2011-12 season<\/span><\/p>\n

Ivanovic, 27, found it hard to evaluate his own season on individual merit when the campaign as-a-whole for the three-time Premier League champions was a poor one.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cPersonally I don’t like to look on my own season,\u201d he said to the Chelsea\u2019s official website.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cEvery time when you don’t win a trophy it is hard and in many ways you want to forget the whole year.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a hard season after the World Cup and playing in two positions, but sometimes I like to play different positions.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI don’t like to speak about me personally and I think every player’s success can be judged on what the team does.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Ivanovic arrived at the Blues from Lokomotiv Moscow in 2008 and has been capped for Serbia\u2019s national side 40 times since his debut in 2003.<\/span><\/p>\n

The defender believes the squad need to work together more as a team this season under Villas-Boas and thinks every player\u2019s personal success should be formed around on how the club performs.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYou can have a striker who scores 50 goals in one season but if you win nothing it means nothing,\u201d Ivanovic added.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAt the same time I am very happy because we were the best defensive team in the league, I cannot say just the defenders because 11 players defend, but this is a good thing for next season for our confidence.<\/span><\/p>\n

“But we do have to improve other parts of our play – we have to play more for the team, like a team, to give opportunities to our team-mates.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We know where we made mistakes and I think we will be better and improve in the new season.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
