The competition will be used to select the team that will represent the institutions during the national athletics championships cum trials scheduled for July 14-16 at Nyayo Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>According to the organisers, all the public universities will field athletes for a slot at the national trials.&#8221;The necessary arrangements have been finalised and we expect the athletes to report early due to the changing weather patterns,&#8221; said AK Universities branch treasure Fatwel Kimaiyo.<\/p>\n<p>He said they intend to start off the event early to enable the athletes post the qualifying mark.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We will only select those who will meet the qualification mark since we intend to take a strong team to the nationals,&#8221; Universities branch chairperson Tecla Sang said.
