President Goodluck Jonathan has promised to govern with the fear of God, because he believes that God wants him to make an impact on the lives of Nigerians.<\/span><\/p>\n

The President spoke when receiving the Very Rev. Justin Welby, who brought a special message from the Archbishop of Canterbury, Most Reverend Rowan Williams to the State House, Abuja, on Thursday.<\/span><\/p>\n

He said, \u201cI could not have attained this position without God and God has a purpose for Nigeria.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI believe God wants me to make an impact in the lives of Nigerians.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The President expressed appreciation to the Archbishop of Canterbury for his interest in Nigeria, especially during and after the elections.<\/span><\/p>\n

He spoke about Nigeria\u2019s leadership responsibility in Africa, his desire to improve future elections in the country and the unfortunate post-election violence which he described as some of the \u201cchallenges every nation must face on its path to nationhood\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Earlier, Welby said the Archbishop of Canterbury was \u201cencouraged and delighted at the extraordinary leadership which President Jonathan provided during the elections and the difficult post-election days.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

He prayed for peace in Nigeria, wisdom and strength for the President in the years ahead and gave the Archbishop\u2019s assurances of support for Nigeria in the British House of Lords, where he sits.<\/span><\/p>\n

Also on Thursday, Jonathan received a special message from President Alpha Conde of Guinea. The message was delivered by Mr. Mamadou Traore, Minister in the Presidency.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
